Mental Load: The Windmill Exercise

We often say that women can do several things at once while men are single-task. But that is not quite true. In fact, we all carry a more or less significant mental load.

What is mental load?

Mental load is the constant mental effort of planning, organising and remembering everything that needs to be done. It is exhausting and can lead to stress, fatigue and burnout.

The windmill exercise

The windmill exercise is a sophrology technique to release mental load. It involves visualising your thoughts as a windmill and learning to let them pass without getting caught up in them.

How it helps

This exercise helps you:
  • Become aware of your mental load
  • Release the tension it creates
  • Create space in your mind
  • Find a state of calm and clarity
