What Does Sophrology Consist Of?

Sophrology is a psychocorporeal method that combines breathing, relaxation and visualisation. It helps manage stress, improve sleep, relieve pain and develop personal resources. Ghislaine Morin, sophrologist in Grenoble, explains what it consists of.

The foundations of sophrology

Sophrology was created in the 1960s by neuropsychiatrist Alfonso Caycedo. It draws on Western and Eastern techniques to harmonise the body and mind. It is based on the idea that body and mind are intimately linked.
